Dan attended the Philadelphia High School for Creative & Performing Arts, Philadelphia College of Performing Arts and worked studying audio engineering while still having to sneak into some venues to perform as he was underage. He founded his own successful promotion, production and music marketing business in the late 90’s after touring, working for promoters and major record labels.

Dan originally started out with Iko-Iko as their Front-of-House engineer in 1991 and later managed the band for five years during two national releases and tours before being called to duty by Graham in 2006. As a drummer, Dan has performed with artists in Blues, R&B, Rock, Soul, Cajun, Pop, Alternative and Hot AC including his own Daniel East Band, Grammy® nominee (Traditional Zydeco) Fernest Arceneaux, Warren Ceasar, Delmar Brown, The Volunteers, Gerald Levert, Alex Gomez (PBS’ Blues Slide Guitar Workshop - where he actually performed with John and Mitch long before Iko-Iko) & has appeared with Albert Castiglia, Glen Burtnik, JC Faulk, Billy Mann, The (original) Soul Survivors, Woody’s Orphans plus many others.
